Thankfully, with today’s advanced technical age along with the social media and more regional oriented recruiting services, athletes from the Appalachian Mountains area of Kentucky rarely go under the radar anymore, and this is especially so with one extremely talented multi purpose star in Hazard, Ky.
The interest level from several colleges is picking up for Perry County Central wide receiver/all purpose back Austin Pray.
The 6’ 2”, 182 pounder has been invited to several combines and/or worked out for college football coaches during individually arranged workouts at UK, WKU, EKU, Morehead State University, Georgetown College, UPike and University of the Cumberlands so far this summer. Pray has also had interest from from Ball State and Wofford University as well as Cornell, Penn and Harvard from the Ivy League.
Having been raised by two parents (Keith and Michelle Pray) who are educators and high school coaches themselves, Austin’s academic record is very much in order with a 4.4 GPA and already having scored a 32 on his ACT.
Pray, who also plays basketball and runs track for the Commodores has been a starting WR/DB for three years and has 100 career receptions for over 1,500 yards and 15 TD’s on offense while collecting 138 tackles, 16 passes broken up and five interceptions on defense.
