A year ago the Hornets' undefeated football season was brought to a screeching halt by the Orrick Bearcats. The Penney High Hornets were given the opportunity to avenge last year's loss on Monday, Nov. 9, and the Hornets redeemed themselves while obliterating Orrick's 40 game winning streak with a 51-13 victory. Hamilton wasted no time establishing their dominance. Keagan Prather busted through the line on the first play from scrimmage of the night and sped down the sideline for 67 yards and a Hornet touchdown. Orrick's first series ended with a punt. Hamilton took over on the 41 yard line and, after Trevor Dixon moved the ball 18 yards on two carries, Prather kept the ball again and ran 41 yards for another touchdown. Prather amassed 153 rushing yards in six carries for a 25.5 yard average per carry. Orrick's series ended in another punt and the Hornets took control of the field. On the seventh play of the series, Prather broke free for his final touchdown of the game. Dixon moved the ball eight yards in two carries, and Andrew Straker fought the Bearcats for 40 yards in three carries. First quarter closed and the Hornets led 21-0. Dixon and Straker manned the second and third quarter Hornet attack. Straker carried the ball for 117 total rushing yards in 14 carries. Dixon covered 209 yards during the game on 20 carries. He broke through tackle after tackle to score four more touchdowns on 59, 25, 24, and 11 yard carries. Dylan Chadwick's five extra point attempts were good. On the final touchdown, the snap was fumbled, but Chadwick completed a pass to Josh Pickrell for a successful two-point conversion. Orrick's offense which only gained two first downs was stymied by the Hornet defense. Chadwick led the squad with six tackles and three assists. Robbie Routh made seven solos and two assists while Matt Schieber stopped the Bearcats with four solos and five assists. Brandon Hemry frustrated the Bearcats with five solos and two assists and one quarterback sack. TJ Schieber had five solos and three assists.❦
