The "kiddie corps" of top-seeded Park Center came through in triple overtime, edging third-seeded Marshall, 73-71 in the Class 3A championship game at Williams Arena.

With its senior leaders on the bench after fouling out, the Pirates (26-5) looked to freshmen Ann Simonet and Mikayla Hayes, who combined for 42 points, including 10 of the team's 13 points in overtime. Freshman point guard Danielle Schaub also hit the game-tying runner at the end of regulation and another game-tying bucket in the second overtime. She finished with six points.

Miss Basketball finalist and Wisconsin-bound Cayla McMorris finished with 21 points for Park Center. Hayes had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Simonet added 26 points and eight rebounds.

Park Center earned the title in its first trip to the state tournament, just the seventh team since 2000 to do so.

Kenzie Beekman paced Marshall with 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Hannah Bennett added 16 points and five assists.
