Park Center 62 - Como Park 41
Park Center used an early 12-2 run to establish a 19-9 lead over Como Park, and the Cougars never got closer than six. The closest Como Park got in the second half was in fact the half-time score of 29-17. The lead reached 20 at 49-29 at 6:51, and the Pirates cruised from there.
Andrayah Adams scored 27 for Como Park on 11-of-24 shooting. “We defended well,” said Park Center coach Chris VanderHyde. “We wanted to double-team her and make it hard for her, and she had to work for those 27 points. We (also) wanted to keep them in the half-court and not let them run out in transition. They didn’t get many run-outs.”
Her teammates shot 6-for-24, and no one else scored more than 4 points for the Cougars.
Park Center’s Cayla McMorris scored 26 points on 9-of-18 shooting, and she had more help than Adams did. In fact, guard McKenna DuBois was the catalyst in the first half with 4 three-pointers. Freshman guard Danielle Schaub added 11 points.
Both teams shot in the 35 percent range, and Como out-rebounded the Pirates 36-26. But the turnovers were 20-5 and the free throws 11-1 in Park Center’s favor.
