Park Center 68 - Osseo 50

Park Center Girls Basketball

Osseo came into Tuesday's game 2-0.  Although they are young, they are very athletic and talented.  Coupling that with the fact that no Park Center girl currently in the program has ever defeated Osseo in a Varsity basketball game made it a challenging home opener for the Pirates.  We responded well to that challenge.  With a 3 point lead at the half we came out in the second half and leaned on the very talented Orioles team by pressuring them defensively and being aggressive on offense causing both of their post players to foul out.  The 68-50 win marks the first time the Lady Pirates have defeated Osseo since 2007.  PC moves to 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in the NWSC.  Next game is Friday at Coon Rapids.  GO PIRATES!!!

JV:

We unfortunately lost to our next 2 opponents, Osseo and Cenntenial.  We struggled with getting into early foul trouble against Osseo.  This hurt our transition game and we had to play more conservative defensively.  I am proud of the girls for fighting through even though we had 2 starters with 3 fouls in the first half.  At Cenntenial we fell into an offensive slump.  The girls continue to work on learing the offensive and improving.  We are young and have a ton of potential and I look forward to watching these young ladies grow on the court.

“B” Team

Our young Pirates went up against another older, more experienced team Tuesday night in their home opener versus Osseo.  However, the Pirates’ strong defensive play led to their success in denying the Orioles penetration into the lane, keeping them off-balance and forcing them to shoot from outside for much of the game.  Offensively, the Pirates relied upon their team’s persistent offensive play coupled with strong scoring performances from their post players, propelling the “B” Squad to their third straight win 35 – 24.  Our next game is Friday as we travel to Coon Rapids to take on the Cardinals at 5:30PM.  Go PIRATES!!!  – Coach Coalwell
