Pirates vs Como Park
December 18, 2013Park Center Girls Basketball
Great effort on Monday night by the Lady Pirates. All three teams performed extremely well and I was very pleased with both sides of the ball in all 3 games. The B Squad and JV gave us terrific momentum to take into the Varsity game and we were all thankful for their performance. I was impressed to see the box score have 10 people who all scored 4 points or more of our 67 on the night. I was even more impressed that Como Park was held to 27. I thought Como was an extremely well coached team with a tremendous half court defense that stifled our half court offense all night. They were physical and aggressive and beat us to spots frequently. Fortunately our defense was relentless all night as well, converting many turnovers into easy baskets at the other end. A great way to start the season! Go Lady Pirates!

The Park Center Girls JV Basketball team got off to a great start of the season with a a big win over Como Park. All 7 players scored in this game. They ran the floor well in transiton and our defense set the tone for the game.
An outstanding defensive performance by the Pirates, resulting in 26 steals and frequent fast-break scoring opportunities, fueled the “B” Team to a 67 – 11 season opening win over Como Park Monday night in St. Paul. Offensively, the Pirates played unselfishly, seeking out the open player, and allowing for a very balanced scoring attack with 5 players reaching double figures. Great energy and effort was given by all. Our next game is at Centennial at 5:30PM on Thursday. Go PIRATES!!! - Coach Coalwell
