Home » Cross Country NewsMcGee takes state titleNovember 8, 2009 By L Ausmer of Pass Christian High SchoolPass Christian\'s Cory McGee won the Class 4A state individual title in cross country on Saturday at Mississippi College in Clinton. It was her fifth state championship in six attempts in cross country. She posted at time of 14:35.40. Later in the afternoon, St. Patrick won the Class 3A girls state championship with 31 points, besting runner-up Ripley that had 64 points. Our Lady Academy captured the Class 2A girls state championship with 19 points.
"This year, this is one of my better races,\'\' McGee said. "I\'ve been sick the last couple of weeks and was in the hospital for a couple of days. It was some kind of brochitis. I haven\'t run in that many meets this year.\'\'
Shannen Weyer of Biloxi finished third in the 6A girls, while Hancock\'s Derek Westbrook netted a sixth-place finish.
