Parkway North Fall Athletics 2012

(Practices the first week are also tryouts for most sports.)

 GIRLS

Cross Country – Practices will be held on Aug. 6 and 7 from 8am – 10am at the North High track. Beginning Aug. 8, practices will move to 3pm. All you need are some running shorts, shirt, water bottle and a good pair of training shoes. For more information call Scott Kreher at 314-591-1234.

Field Hockey – Practices be held on Aug. 6-7 from 8am - 10am at the stadium.  Beginning August 8 the time will change to 3:15 – 5:15.  Please bring stick, mouthguard, shinguards, cleats, tennis shoes, and a water bottle.  Call Coach Sally Phelan at 314-479-9396 with questions.

Softball – Practices on Aug. 6 and 7 will be from 8am – 10am at the Softball complex at the Instructional Services Center (corner of Bennington and Fee Fee). Beginning on August 8, practices will move to 3:30pm – 5:30pm.  Please bring a glove, cleats, tennis shoes, water bottle, and a bat if you have one. Call Amy Doyle at 314-757-2913 with questions

Tennis – Practices on August 6 -7 will be from 8am-10am at the Tennis Courts.  Beginning August 8, practices will move to 2:45-5:15.  All girls will need a racket and water.  Please call Coach Lefcourt for information at 314-609-6936.

Volleyball– Practices will begin on Aug. 6 and will be held 2:30 – 5:30 each day in the lower gym. Call Chris Frankenfield at 314-315-2991 or 314-415-7652 with questions.

Golf– Practice begins on August 6 at 10am.  Location is still to be determined, but will likely

be off campus.  Practices will remain in the morning until school begins (the exception will be the day of Freshmen Orientation.)  Call Phyllis Carter with any questions at 314-570-2664.

BOYS

Cross Country – Practices will be held August 6 and 7, 8am – 10am at the North High Track.  Practice will begin at 3:00pm beginning August 8^th.  All you need are some running shorts, a shirt, water bottle, and a good pair of running shoes. Football -  Practices will held on Aug. 6 - 7 from 8am-3pm on Viking Field. Beginning August 8, practices will move to 3pm-6pm.  Players should bring shorts, shirts, and football shoes.  If you have any questions, call Bob Bunton at 314-514-8669.

Freshmen Football will begin on Wednesday, August 8 from 3-5:30pm.

Soccer – Practices will be held on the upper soccer field on Aug. 6 from 8am-10:30 and 2pm-4:30pm.  On Aug. 7 practice will be held from 8am – 10:30am.  Beginning on Aug. 8, practices will be held   2:30 pm – 5:00pm.  Wear shorts and shirt.  Bring soccer shoes, running shoes and a water bottle.  Call Coach Jeff Church at 314-415-7600 ext. 22628 or email: jchurch@pkwy.k12.mo.us

Swimming and Diving – Practice will be held on August 6and 7 from  9am-11am.  Practices will move to 2:45 – 4:45 beginning on August 8.  Meet at the pool and be dressed to swim.  For more information contact Coach Bart Prosser at bprosser@parkwayschools.net.

Forms Required Before the First Day

All Athletes must have a physical and an emergency consent

form completed before they will be allowed to tryout or practice.

- The forms may be picked up in the Athletic Office or downloaded from the Parkway North website:   http://www.pkwy.k12.mo.us/north/

-The doctor’s physical must be completed and dated after Feb. 1, 2012.

                 Eligibility

All students must be enrolled in 3.0 units of credit during the season.

Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors must pass 3.0 units of credit

during the spring semester of 2012 to be eligible for the fall of 2012.*

Freshmen are automatically eligible their first semester of high school.

   *Students may count up to 1 unit of credit from summer school toward establishing their eligibility for the fall semester of 2012.  Only classes which are required for graduation from North High, may be counted toward meeting the academic requirement. Electives will not count toward regaining eligibility. If you have any questions, please call your guidance counselor.

VST Transportation

Fall practices may begin as early as August 6.  If you need VST transportation, you need to let your coach know as soon as possible. 

Insurance

Regardless of your sport, there is a possibility of injury.  The MSHSAA has a catastrophic plan available that kicks in after $25,000 has been covered by your own plan.  There is also a health plan available through school that would give you limited coverage for a nominal fee.  If you are interested in any of these plans, ask your coach or athletic director for details.
