Ladyhounds Lose to Boone

September 2, 2014
Paris High School

Paris 0, Boone County 5

Striker Gloria Ponce was out due to illness but we were able to make the adjustment and Aylin Allamilla stepped in.  We also tested our young players in the position - Laurel Gibson, Anne Park and Shelbie Stamper.  Midway through the first half Akhira Umar was lost to injury going to goal as she collided with Boone County keeper.  Tiarra Myers was called to some striker duty as well after that but we couldn't generate an attack.  Chelsea Parrish made many clears but we just could not find our targets.
First half we held Boone County to 1-0.  The Lady Hounds had a terrific first half, defensively.  Keeper Hunter Harrison had 13 saves in the first half.  Chelsea Parrish had 7 defensive saves.  Lizzie Preston and Tyra Myers, all three, played very well. There was great support from the defensive mids, Julietta DeBord was able to shut down their shooter from outside.  Marenza Dray made many plays in the air to take away threat.
Boone County is strong and fast and very experienced.  I have a lot of respect for their coach and the program he runs.
Second half 2 quick goals by Boone County took the intensity from our game.  Losing Akhira Umar and missing Ponce was too much to think of generating an attack.  The Lady Hounds put everything they had into defending against the constant Boone County attack.
Keeper Hunter Harrison had a total of 27 saves.  Chelsea Parrish had a total of 12 defensive saves.
Just unfortunate with some mental mistakes erased, I believe we could have held them to 2 goals and if we had Ponce and Umar, would have had 2 ourselves.
