Ladyhounds Fall to Holy Cross

September 2, 2014
Paris High School

Paris v. Holy Cross of Covington
Paris 0, Holly Cross 2.  We were already down our center back Chelsea Parrish (she is taking a college class on Saturdays) and we knew it would be hot.  The surprise was showing up to play a confirmed varsity time of 11 only to see when we pulled in their JV was warming up.  Apparently they had club players that had another game later in the day.  JV played 10 so as not to add too much stress on the sophomores who dual-roster.
JV played very well and held Holy Cross to 1-0 throughout the game. Anne Park and Laurel Gibson steadied the defense as starting center backs. In the final 2 minutes, unfortunately, we gave up a quick 2 goals.  The Junior Hounds at that point were exhausted having no subs and playing short.
Varsity sat in the heat for almost 2 hours longer than anticipated.  Our youth stepped up and sophomores Lizzie Preston and Akhira Umar filled in as centerbacks for the absent Chelsea Parrish.  We did lose a little steam in our attack by pulling Umar back, but we still manged to have some real good looks on their goal, Tiarra Myers and Gloria Ponce just unable to convert.  Keeper Hunter Harrison had some spectacular saves totaling 16.
