Home » Bowling NewsBowling Season Gets Underway at PHSNovember 14, 2012 Paris High SchoolThe 2012-2013 bowling season has kicked off atParisHigh School, and the new head coach of the Greyhounds, Alex Shapiro, could not be more excited for the opportunity to lead such an outstanding group of student athletes. The boys’ team is anchored by the leadership of senior captains Jorge Jackson and Jacob Myers.Jacksonstarted his season off with an impressive performance at the first annual Greyhound Classic this past weekend, averaging 203 for the three game series, which included a game where he bowled 245 against rivalBourbonCounty. Seniors that are also making contributions to the team’s success include Justin Moran, Marcus Champs, and Daniel Curtis. The boys’ team also features a group of talented underclassmen which include Garrett West, Michael Frye, and Zach Frye. The girls’ team started their season with a strong 2nd place finish in the first annual Greyhound Classic. The girls’ team was led by senior captains Destinee Clark and Alexis Tye. Both Clark and Tye boasted an average of over 150 for the three game series. Junior Gwendolyn Roberts has been a “rookie sensation” so far, making an immediate impact throughout the tournament this past weekend. Seniors Amanda Myers, Kelsey Stanfield and Ali Nolen have also stepped up and provided leadership for the Lady Hounds. The Bowling Hounds continue their season at Joyland Bowl inLexingtonon Sunday with a match against Madison Central at 3 PM. Everyone is welcome to come support the Bowling Hounds!
