Paris J.V. Finishes Season on Two Win Streak – Defeat Mason County 6-3
After the varsity game against Mason County, the Paris Boys’ J.V. team took the pitch. Paris scored first on a full-field run by Halen Stamper which finished with a power shot to the top left ninety. Mason County responded in big fashion and recorded three goals in the first half and Paris found itself down 1-3.
“I was a little upset with the boys at half-time. We scored early and they thought it was going to be easy the rest of the way out. Instead of playing as a team, our guys began playing out of position thinking they would all score. I knew we could get back into it because this group of kids has a winning mentality,” said Paris Coach Bill Gibson
Get back into the match they did, Paris shut down the Royals offensive possession time to almost nothing in the second half of play as they went on to score five goals themselves. Sophomore Halen Stamper added two more to finish his “Hat Trick” on the night. Sophomore Michael Frye drilled a shot for a goal and 7th Grader Daijn Kemper assisted 8th grader Dag Salinas on his first goal of the year. Frankie Bradford finished the night on a break-away goal that froze the keeper on the line before placing a perfect shot in the center of the goal.
Gibson commented about his J.V. team, “Our J.V. team usually has five to six middle school kids playing at any given time. Most of the teams we have played this year have been comprised of only Freshman and Sophomores. These kids play with great heart and positive attitude and I am extremely encouraged to think of what they will accomplish as they move into Varsity play.”
