Home » Boys' Basketball NewsJV Boys Look to Rebound Off of Early Season WoesDecember 5, 2011 By Alec Ford of Centralia High School ActivitiesThe 2011-2012 Junior Varsity Boys' Basketball team have begun the season 0-2, falling to Macon 44-40, and Booneville 47-36. The seasons still young, and they look to flip the script off of a Fayette Falcon team tonight. On November 28th, the Panthers traveled to Macon to take on an always athletic Tiger team. The Panthers went into the locker room at halftime with an early lead, leading the Tigers 14-12. However, events would change, as Macon went on a run, ending the 3rd quaver with a lead of 29-22. As coach Kinkade mentioned, the Panthers had several missed opportunities to regain the lead, losing to the Tigers with a final score of 40-44. Justin Eikel led the Panthers in scoring with 11pts, as Logan Armontrout pitched in 9. Zach Etlzer was 4pts off a double-double, scoring 6pts, to go along with 10 rebounds. Last Thursday the JV Boys hosted the Boonville Pirates, and were upended 47-36. It wasn't the lack of effort for the Panthers, but was Boonville's raw size and skill that gave the Panthers all they wanted. The game was close all the way through the first half, as Boonville led only by 1, 18-17. However, Boonville came out on all cylinders, outscoring the Panthers 29-19 in the second half, leading to the final 47-36, Pirates. Zach Etzler was 4-4 from the line, with 12 pts and 8 rebounds, Justin Eikel chipped in 9pts as well. The Panthers travel to Fayette tonight, in hope to get their first W, and as well in hope to pick up some momentum heading into the middle of this years 2011-2012 basketball season.
