Home » Quiz Bowl NewsCentralia Quiz Bowl District ChampsApril 18, 2011 By Rachel Coen of Centralia High School ActivitiesApril 9, the Centralia Quiz Bowl team went to Hallsville to participate in the class III, district VII, tournament. The team was Sean Brix, Bobby Houston, Michael Mahieu, Aaron Seider, Chelsea Griffin, Donna Jennings and Quinton Miller. First up against Centralia was Montgomery County. Centralia won 470-120. The next match was against Mexico, and Centralia won 530-200. The final preliminary round was against Hallsville. Centralia won 440-250, putting Centralia in 1st place going into semifinals. Centralia played Mexico again and won again with a score of 480-190. For the last match, Centralia played Fulton for the district title. The first quarter ended with a tie at 60-60, but Centralia took the lead at halftime 250-100. By the end of 3rd quarter Centralia led 360-130. Centralia won the match 510-210. Aaron Seider is the district's top scorer and won all district honors for the 3rd season. Chelsea Griffin made the all district team for the first time.
