Alumni Interviews--Where Are They Now?
The One the Only Michael Rodgers
February 21, 2011By Samantha Parsons of Centralia High School Activities
High school is just a stepping stone on the stairway of life. Centralia High School has had a lot of people walk these halls. Michael Rodgers graduated in the year of 2004. He was a big influence on the school of Centralia. Michael was a role model to many of his peers. Michael made a name for himself all the way from the high school football field to the baseball fields of college. His family owns a business and Michael was eager to jump in and get to work. I asked Michael some questions about his time during high school and his life after high school.
GC Did you play a sport in high school?
MR Yes...Football, Basketball, and Baseball.
GC Do you think playing a sport helped out with your popularity or not?
MR Well, in some ways I think it did.
GC Did you ever have an embarrassing moment in high school?
MR There was this one bathroom scene I had, but I don’t like talking about it at all. So you can just ask Mr. Newsted about that one.
GC What did you do after high school?
MR I did what I loved--played the great game of baseball.
GC Where are you working now? What do you want to be doing?
MR Right now I am trying to pick up the family business at Rodgers Rental, but I would like to get rich quick. That's the dream, right?
GC Where do you see yourself in the near future?
MR I want to get married and have kids and live in a big house. I want to ride around in nice cars--you know, the American dream.
Michael has done a lot for CHS. But what we need to remember, too, is that CHS taught Michael a lot. It molded him into the man he is today. We need to be proud of where we are from. Like a great man told me once, don’t forget who you are, where you’re from, and what that means...
