Home » History NewsThe Senator Comes to CentraliaDecember 2, 2010 By Philip Swanson of Centralia High School ActivitiesMonday, November 15th, was a very enlightening day for all students enrolled in Mr. Martin's Government class because they had a special guest speaker, Senator Kurt Schaefer. Senator Schaefer came to Centralia High School to speak with the students about our government and to tell them about the political issues that are currently happening. The experience was very enjoyable as the senator informed juniors about topics such as the House and the Senate, the dangers of K2, and political party views. Mr. Martin was very excited to have Senator Schaefer at the high school. He said, "It was good to have him speak to the kids, and the experience tied in perfectly with what my class is learning about." Mr. Martin also said, "It was great to show the students that Senator Kurt Schaefer is a ‘real person.'" The students were full of questions and had a positive outlook on the experience. Mr. Martin said he hopes the senator will return again soon.
