Former student teacher returns to CHS as a new staff member

Mrs. Katie Patton is the new World History and Western Civilization teacher at Centralia High School. She was born in Alabama and grew up in different places all over the world. She says she was a military brat. She has lived in Hawaii, Germany, Alabama, and Missouri. She has one younger brother. Mrs. Patton graduated from Waynesville High School in Waynesville, MO. She received an undergraduate and graduate degree from Columbia College and a graduate degree from Norwich University. Although Mrs. Patton started out in biology, her academic focus in college was history and education. She was involved in drama club, JROTC (drill team, color guard, rifle team, choir) women’s choir, FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), Spanish club, and track.

Mrs. Patton currently lives in Columbia, MO. She is married and has two children. When asked if she likes Centralia so far, her response was, “I love Centralia!” She was also asked how it has been adjusting to a new town, job, and school. Her response was, “I felt pretty comfortable at the school from day one since I student taught here. Everyone is helpful and nice.”

Mrs. Patton’s hobbies outside school include reading and writing. She also loves being with her family and going fishing. Her favorite TV shows are Bones and Big Bang Theory. According to Mrs. Patton, her favorite restaurant is “wherever the good food is!” Her favorite color is green, (the darker tones). Although Mrs. Patton is new to the district, and she is adjusting very well to being a Centralia Panther!
