By Victoria Parsons of Centralia High School Activities

Senior Dixon Dollens, number 10, plays both wide receiver on offense and safety on defense for the Centralia Panther football team. In a recent interview he said, “There’s more leadership roles and more responsibility this year being a senior.” Dixon said he has improved a lot since his freshman year. He has played since the 3rd grade when he started in youth football.

During his freshman year, Dixon said he looked up to Hunter Brumley, who was a senior, and he followed in his foot steps, playing the same positions as Hunter did. Dixon says “Bennett is a good coach and knows what he’s doing”. He has enjoyed having him as a coach for the last four years. Dixon says, “The streak ending isn’t that big of a deal and the pressure is off now.”  Dixon wanted to add a quote from the coach “The streak never really ended, the streaks been inside you the whole time” -Coach Bennett.

Dixon also says “We have strong potential for the playoffs.” The playoffs will be in a couple of weeks. He thinks they can go far. Dixon plans to attend MACC for two years, and then transfer to Mizzou. He would like to play basketball in college. He also wishes luck to the upcoming football team for Centralia.
