Centralia Invitational

October 16, 2012
By Taylor Jacobson of Centralia High School Activities

The Centralia Cross Country team hosted 16 teams at our invitational at the Recreational Park, Monday, October 8, 2012.

A field of 44 varsity girls started the day.  Centralia's Selestia Angell earned 39th place with a time of 28:45 and Kaitlynn Mueller ended the day with 28:45 to capture 40th place.

A field of 63 varsity boys ran next, with Austin Haskell coming in 4th place with a time of 18:08, leading the way for Centralia. He was followed by Chris Freeman, who came in 44th place with a time of 20:59.  Chris also  took a safety pin through his shoe into his foot at the start and finished the race with a blood-soaked sock (pictures can be found on the cross country website).  Ethan Leighton came in 55th place with 22:30, Zach Whittaker ended up 57th place with 22:31, Jake Enlow came in 59th place with 22:40, and Rustin Crocker ended the day in 63rd place with a time of 23:48.  Hats off to Rustin Crocker!  This was Rustin's first varsity race and his time improved by 2 minutes!
