Home » Quiz Bowl NewsCentralia Stays #1 in the ConferenceFebruary 6, 2012 By Dax Dollens of Centralia High School ActivitiesCentralia Quiz Bowl teams traveled to Mark Twain last weekend for the annual Clarence Cannon Conference (CCC) tournament. The junior varsity and varsity teams, both with their own bracket, battled through the conference. The junior varsity ended up taking fourth, and they have shown great knowledge of the sport. For such a young team they are competing well. I'm sure Coach Kennedy is tickled to death with the crop he is raising under his command and hopes to have great harvests in the years to come. Varsity once again flexed in the face of the CCC as they took home the biggest trophy of them all. Varsity proved themselves as the top dog in the conference once again, and they continue to be the team to beat in 2012. The victory didn't come easy though. Centralia started the first round of the round robin tournament against the Macon Tigers. Macon proved themselves a worthy adversary as they defeated Centralia early in tournament play in overtime. This didn't seem to phase the Panthers. The Panthers rattled off three straight wins against conference opponents and found themselves playing for the championship against no other than the Macon Tigers. The Panthers sought revenge and put the Tigers away quickly. The Panthers step out of Mark Twain victorious and with a chip on their shoulder. They show that they are the team to beat once again!
