Cats fall in Sectional

The Bearcats see early lead vanish Paint Valley saw a 9 point- second quarter lead disappear as they fall to North Adams 74-60 Monday in the opening night of boys high school tournament basketball in the southeast district.
The Bearcats raced-out to a 2-13 lead at the end of the first quarter, and led 22-13 early in the second period before the Green Devils started their come-back. North Adams took their first lead of the game at 32-30, then grabbed a 34-30 advantage at halftime. The second half belonged to NA as they built a 57-47 lead after three quarters, and went on to their 14 point win.
Both teams had three players in double figures. Paint Valley was led by Caleb Stratton with 18 points, followed by Logan Markko with 17 points/7 rebounds and Aaron Claytor with 11 points. North Adams' Sam Louden led all scorers with 28 points, followed by Zach Dollich and Drew Dollich with 17 and 16 points respectively.
The Bearcats shot 25/51 for a respectable 49%, while North Adams went 29/55 for 53%. The Green Devils were 13/18 at the foul line while PV was 10/16. NA also had three treys from beyond the arc, while PV had none.
Paint Valley closes their season at (5-15), while (7-13) North Adams advances to face unbeaten Peebles Friday at 6pm for the sectional championship at Waverly.
