Akers in All-District Band

      Paintsville High School junior Sarah Akers was selected to perform in the annual KMEA All-District Band concert to be held January 15th, 2012, at the Ramada Inn in Paintsville.
Sarah is the 16-year old daughter of Keith and Conni Akers of Allen, and she has been playing the flute for the past three years.
     She competed in auditions for the All-District Band on Nov. 29th at Pike Central High School.
     The Band will rehearse for four days prior to the Jan. 15th concert which is open to the public.
     Sarah said she is looking forward to the experience as "a way to get better playing the flute, and to make some new friends".
     Paintsville Band Director Andy Milner said he was "very proud of Sarah's accomplishment", and she would make a good representative of the Paintsville Band program.
