Beginning on Wednesday morning, May 2,2012, P.H.S. students will begin annual state testing. The testing window will run from Wednesday (5/2/12) through Wednesday (5/9/12).
Students in grades 7, 8, 10, and 11 will take the K-Prep (Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress). This is the first year that students in Kentucky will be taking the K-Prep. It replaces the K.C.C.T. that was given in Kentucky public schools for many years. The K-Prep is made of multiple choice, short answer questions, and constructed response questions (open response). Below is a list of subjects tested at each grade level on the K-Prep. 7th: Reading, Math, and Science 8th: Reading, Math, Social Studies, and Writing 10th: Writing 11th: Writing Also new this year in state testing is the End of Course Assessment (E.O.C). It is a multiple choice and constructed response (open response) test given in 4 high school courses (Algebra II, Biology, U.S. History, and English II). PHS students who are in those courses will take the E.O.C. test during the test window. Their scores will be part of the school's test results, but will also count as a portion of the student's final grade in that class. If you have questions regarding K-Prep or E.O.C. assessments please contact your child's teacher or guidance counselor. Please avoid scheduling doctor's appointments or early check-outs on these days if possible. Please keep in mind that Kentucky state law now says that end of year testing can start no sooner than the last 14 days of school---May 2nd for PHS. In the event one of our remaining school days has to be cancelled the test dates would be changed.
