Super Bowl Prediction

Editorial

Cody Goggin

America’s favorite sporting event in history is the Super Bowl. It seems as if football is slowly taking over baseball for the top spot in sporting hearts as America’s pastime. Every year, people try to predict who will compete in the Super Bowl months before it even happens. Whether it is your favorite team, a team that you have said is good all season long, or just your gut feeling, if you make a correct prediction, you will have bragging rights over your buddies for 365 days in a row.

My Predicted Super Bowl: Atlanta Falcons vs. New England Patriots
As Super Bowl XXXXVII cruises into New Orleans, I think that Tom Brady and Matt Ryan will be the two quarterbacks present for this marquee matchup of dreams.

For Tom Brady and the Patriots, the Super Bowl is just another game considering that they have been in this position for numerous years as there is a dynasty in New England. What makes me think that New England will make it to the Super Bowl for the second year in a row is the fact that they have almost all of their same players again. In the two games that I have watched the Patriots play in this year, they have demolished two teams that have a combined record of 17-9. These two teams that they beat are not bad teams, and the fact that the Patriot’s defense held them to a low number of points and capitalized off of turnovers is the reason that they won these games.

The Atlanta Falcons started off the year with the longest winning streak as they won nine in a row before being defeated. Right now, the Falcons sit at 11-2 and are atop their divisional standings. Matt Ryan is their quarterback, and this year he has matured into a great pocket passer. With Roddy White and Julio Jones as his receivers, this offense is one of the most explosive in the whole NFL. Their defense is not as good, but can be considered average.

My Predicted Winner: New England Patriots
