Missouri Tigers Senior Night

Entering the game, the Tigers were 5-5, and they were in need of one more win in order to be eligible to play in a bowl game. Syracuse was also 5-5, and they were in the same situation as Missouri. It was Senior Night for the Tigers, and they were hoping for a great win for their seniors and make them at least .500 for their first season in the Southeast Conference. The Tigers were hoping for a win against the Orange because they knew that if they did not beat them, they would have to play an amazing game against the Aggies from Texas A&M.

Mizzou elected to receive the ball to start the game; it was a 13-yard return by Marcus Murphy to give the Tigers the ball with 87 yards to the end zone. Missouri running back Kendial Lawrence rushed 17 yards on three runs to put the ball on the 30-yard line. This led to a 70-yard touchdown pass by James Franklin to Dorial Green-Beckham that gave them a quick 7-0 lead. Syracuse scored soon after on a field goal. At 4:48, Jimmie Hunt caught a 30-yard touchdown pass by Franklin to put the Tigers up 14-3, and that was the score at the end of the first quarter.

In the second way, Missouri added three points to their lead to put them up by 14. Three minutes before half time, Prince-Tyson Gulley had a one yard rush touchdown to narrow it down to a touchdown before halftime. There was no scoring involved in the third quarter, and it all came down to the fourth.

Syracuse was hoping for a big comeback; the Tigers, on the other hand, were hoping to keep the lead. Less than one minute in, the Orange tied it up with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Nassib to Alec Lemon. Missouri pulled ahead one more time on a 3-yard touchdown run by Lawrence. Syracuse tied it back up on a touchdown rush by Jerome Smith and the score was 24-24. With 1:52 left, Andrew Baggett kicked a field goal to put them up by three. With a last second burst, Syracuse pulled out the win on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Nassib to Lemon.
