Are you fascinated by the “paranormal” aspect in life—ghosts, hauntings, demons, spirits, etc.? Have you ever had an unexplainable event happen to you or a loved one, making you ponder at a possible “supernatural” answer behind the mystery? Or are you simply a fierce skeptic of it all? If you answered yes to any of the previous questions, perhaps you should watch an episode of Paranormal State, aired on the A&E television network. This television show was founded by Ryan Buell, with the help of his fellow students at Pennsylvania State College, known as the Paranormal Research Society (PRS)—Sergey Poberezhny (the tech specialist), Eilfie Music (Occult Specialist), Katrina Weidman (interviewer), Michelle Belanger (PRS psychic), and Heather Taddy (team documentarian). As a child, Ryan Buell claims to have had “experiences with the paranormal” that “terrified” him; therefore, he established the Paranormal Research Society to help “those that were haunted like I was.” Throughout the episodes, the PRS team travels to numerous locations throughout the country to help those who claim to have problems with the paranormal that are interfering with their family’s daily lives, such as ghost hauntings and demon possessions. In order to do this, they set up video cameras and audio recorders in an attempt to catch any paranormal activity/evidence; they also engage in “Dead Time” at 3.00 AM (the time when supernatural occurrences are most likely) where they talk to the supposed ghosts and attempt to rouse a response from them. Oftentimes, the team does not actually explain the occurrences or discover the origins behind the alleged hauntings; however, many of their clients claim to have no further frightening experiences after the team’s departure.
