Home » Newspaper NewsFavorite Halloween Traditions as a KidOctober 16, 2012 Owensville High SchoolFavorite Halloween Traditions as a Kid Cody Goggin Halloween is a day that every young kid looks foward to. You have the opportunity to dress up as whatever creature, person, or object that you desire, and you can be whoever you want for that one day of the year. Parties take place around your school, giving you treats and fun with your classmates. This last day of October is one of the best moments of every child’s year. My traditions on Halloween were no different from any other child’s . I would walk around the town with my family and friends and ask complete strangers for candy, and they would give it to me; How cool is that? Although my stomach did not always agree with the amount of candy that I put into my stomach on that one night every year, it was still an enjoyable experience that could last for a long time. Picnics and BBQs would take place around the town, offereing free food to the children and their families. The most memorable of these to me were the ones at the firehouse and the Baptist church in Owensville. Free hotdogs, soda, and chips would keep my face occupied long enough for my parents to take a break. As I said before, this is the Halloween experience that many kids in America have, and I was no different. November 1st was always a dreadful day, but in the end, it was worth it.
