1st – 3rd grade we will get acclimated with the water, learn how to blow bubbles out of noes, how to fetch rings from bottom of shallow end. We will learn how to use ladder, feet first entry, back float and jelly fish float. We will touch on front crawl and back crawl and learn about water safety.
4th – 6th grade we will learn about water safety and treading water. We will learn how to do a feet first entry and a shallow dive/block dive. We will learn proper breathing while swimming, freestyle and touch on backstroke. We will discuss the four competitive strokes in middle school and high school swimming.
7th – 8th grade we will learn about water safety and tread water in groups to learn teamwork. We will learn feet first entry, block dive and relay dive. We will learn proper breathing and lateral breathing while swimming freestyle and incorporate a flip turn. We will touch on the remainder of the three competitive strokes: backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly that are used in middle school and high school swimming.
