February 8, 2010
Oregon High School

Manager Samantha Lee writes, The Conference Championship meet held many time drops and fantastic swims. The meet started out with awesome Medley Relays--the B of Garrett Frankson, Ryan Krull, David Johnson and Jon Lowe swam a superfast 2:00.72. The A relay followed that performance up with one of their own--Tom Wollin, Nate Rice, Garrett Tusler, and Jake Baron swam to a finish of 1:50.70.

John Keller, David Johnson, and Tom Wollin all swam the 200 freestyle. While Keller swam well, but didn't drop any time, David finished with a season best. Tom ended up placing 6th overall with a time of 1:59.02. Another sixth place finish was found in Nate Rice, having a season best time of 2:15.66 in the 200 IM. Finishing some time behind him was teammate Ryan Krull with a final time of 2:26.80.

Zack Petrie placed 4th in a fast paced JV 50 freestyle swimming with a time of 31.53. He promptly exited the pool and went to the hospital to find out he's been suffering from a bone spur in his left arm. Feel better, Zack!

50 freestyles continued at an incredible pace with Garrett Tusler swimming 26.06 and Jake Baron a 23.69. Jake ended up placing 5th overall. Garrett Tusler jumped right back into the pool with the 100 fly after the break--swimming a lifetime best of 1:02.49! Great job, Garrett. Garrett Frankson finally got in his first individual swim with the JV 100 freestyle. Having a previous time of 108--Garrett blew that time out of the water, ending the race in lifetime best of 1:01.75.

Johnson, Baron, and Wollin all swam the 100 freestyle. Johnson finished with his PR of 56.77, Baron placed 5th overall with 53.28, and Tom had a great swim, but the start was just too quick for the refs. There are no doubts Tom will be back with a vengeance at Sectionals this weekend!

Jon "Teddy Bear" Lowe had a goal of breaking 6:00 in his 500 freestyle--DONE! Jon went a very quick 5:58.41. The 200 Freestyle Relay of Baron, Tusler, Rice, and Wollin kicked butt, ending up 6th place overall with a time of 1:37.75. Lowe jumped back in with 100 backstroke in 1:10.26. Frankson, with another stellar swim and lifetime best in a 1:13.26. John Keller also swam the race is a best time of 1:29.71.

Almost the end of the meet and the quick times just kept coming. Ryan Krull swam 100 breast with a time of 1:12.30. Nate Rice swam it too, and finished with a time of 1:11.22. Finally, the 400 freestyle relay was a team of Ryan Krull, Garrett Frankson, Jon Lowe, and David Johnson kicked butt in 3:58.00. Great job, guys!

See the boys compete at Middleton this week for Sectionals! Wish them luck as they shoot for those state qualifying swims!
