STATE CHAMPS!
September 3, 2009 Oregon High School
Last school year, on February 14th, 2009 , the Oregon girls became the State Champions in the non-stunting division! The competition took place in Green Bay. That night the girls had the pleasure of having a police escort as they entered Oregon showing off what they had succeeded. Four seniors on the squad felt as if that was the icing on the cake. They had just gotten back from the probowl where they cheered. They got this opportunity in February 2008 when they were juniors after winning first place at Nationals in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In addition to performing during halftime, the seniors also competed agaisnt around 30 or more girls for scholarships. Two out of the four seniors, Brittany White and Cassie Schmidt won the only two scholarships given. Another great victory for the Oregon Cheerleaders was winning the Milwaukee Bucks competition. They had placed first in their division but that was not the only prize. They had placed 2nd in the grand champion. The grand champion is an award given out the the squad with the highest score, regardless the division. Adding on their placing, they had won the opportunity to perform during a half time Miwaukee Buck's game. The girls had many triumphs last year and we only expect more this year! Support the girls by coming out to competitions and cheering them on to be the best! |
