Girls Golf: Oregon golfers gear up for conference season

The Oregon girls golf team got in another pair of invites over the week, and are looking ahead to the start of the Badger South Conference season.

Oregon Best Ball
Oregon's varsity White team fired a team score of 240, and won a pair of match-ups to take first at last Thursday's Oregon Best Ball tournament at Foxboro Country Club.

Abby Busler and McKenzie Parks won the Nos. 1 and 2 with a combined score of 70, while Morgan Pechauer and Marisa Koch also won their match-up at Nos. 5 and 6 with a best-ball score of 85.

Megan Whip and Linde Sundell finished with an 85 as well.

Local rival Waunakee finished second with a team score of 253.

Waunakee Invite
On a gorgeous day for golf, with many potential regional and sectional teams on hand, the Panthers traveled to The Meadows at Six Mile Creek Monday for the Waunakee Invitational.

And Oregon didn't disappoint.

Behind a fourth-place overall finish by Whip with a career-best round of 80 and a fifth-place finish by Busler with her 81, the Panthers edged the host Warriors 333-334 at the 15-team invite.

"The girls had great front nines, and as the wind picked up, were able to hold it together pretty well," head coach Dan Huebsch said. "Having the confidence that they can play well with strong competition on a good course will help them as we progress through the season."

Parks carded an 82 for sixth overall, and Sundell finished with a 90 to round out the varsity scorers for Oregon.

Oregon was in action Wednesday at the Portage Invite, and opens the Badger South Conference dual season Thursday with a home match against Milton.
