Prep cross country: Whitefish boys, C. Falls girls win Whitefish Invite

WHITEFISH - The Whitefish boys and Columbia Falls girls earned narrow team victories Saturday at the Whitefish Invitational cross country meet.

The Bulldog boys tallied 45 points to edge Columbia Falls by a single point. Ronan was third with 98, followed by Plains at 121 and Libby with 125.

Derrick Williams of Columbia Falls was the boys' individual winner. He broke the tape in 15 minutes, 13 seconds, while runner-up Carter Montgomery of Plains finished in 16:02. Jacob Thomas from Libby was third in 16:35.

In the girls' event, the Wildkats scored 28 points, while Whitefish had 32, Ronan was third with 86 and Frenchtown finished in fourth with a score of 90.

Jinise Osborne from Columbia Falls was the individual winner, finishing in 19:32, four seconds faster than Nicole Brist from Whitefish.

Wildkat harrier Meredith Stone was third at 19:59, followed by Rebecca Houldsen from Whitefish (20:06).

Dillon Invitational

At Dillon, the Polson girls and the Dillon boys won the team titles at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course.

Polson's girls posted a team score of 31 to edge Dillon, with 38.

The Pirates had the top three finishers, led by Claudia Hewston, who won with a time of 19:51. Teammate Aja Starkey was next at 20:46 and Pirate Tegan Bauer was third at 21:03.

The Dillon boys won with a team score of 43. Polson was second with 52 and Belgrade was third with 64.

Belgrade's Colter Hegdal won the boys' race in 17:35. Teammate Morgan Larson was next in 17:44 and Polson's Alex Nystrom was third in 17:58.
