Sidney Golfers showing signs of improvement

“The girls team performed very well in the conference today. All six girls I brought would have qualified for state,” Sidney head coach Jay Frank said of the girls that finished in the top 15 Friday.

Kaelyn Volk, a freshman, led the girls with a second place finish and scored a 96.

Shaelyn Bowlds finished ninth with a 104; Tierney Messmer placed 10th with a 105; Kortney Mayer took 11th with a 110; Torey Dahl was 12th with a 116; and Holly Papineau was 15th with a 123.

Sidney girls placed second with an overall score of 415. Laurel placed first with 384. Sidney’s junior varsity boys placed second with 333 behind Billings Central who scored a 324 overall.

Miles City took third with 343 and Sidney’s varsity boys, who were still without team leader Luke Beenken, shot a 411.

Andrew Hansen led Sidney’s boys with a 96.

Brady Johnson and Chase Morehouse both shot a 100. Camden Berka shot a 115 ahead of Cristian Seitz with a 116.

Nine of Sidney’s boys finished in the top 15.

Overall it was a productive meet for Sidney.

“I was pleased with their progress,” Frank said about the Eagles team.

The Eagles’ next meet is in Hardin Friday.
