Shelby Shipman was strong at the plate and on the mound in carrying Mavericks to a 13-4 victory over the Colstrip Rangers on Monday at Colstrip, MT.
Shelby went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for Mavericks. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the seventh inning.
Shelby was a workhorse on the rubber for Mavericks. Shelby allowed one earned run, five hits and four walks while striking out five over seven innings of work.
Mavericks didn't let up, as it kept racking up runs until the end. Mavericks scored three runs in the final one innings to cap the blowout win. Mavericks scored four runs in the third on Mavericks scored in the third on a two-run single by Daltin Bulock, an RBI double by Bryan Claypool, and an RBI single by Timmy Regan.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to four lead changes in the game.
Mavericks easily handled the Colstrip Rangers pitching as six hitters combined for 13 hits, eight RBIs and 11 runs scored.
In the top of the first, Mavericks grabbed the early lead, 2-0. After Jt Gunther singled, Shelby doubled, bringing home Jt and Timmy.
It didn't take long for the Colstrip Rangers to respond as they scored four runs of their own in the first. The Colstrip Rangers scored on an error, a two-run double by O,shon, and a sacrifice fly by Mikah.
Calvin Bjorgum did all he could to give the Billings Blue Jays a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past the Glasgow Reds, as the Billings Blue Jays lost 10-5 in seven innings at Glasgow on Monday.
Calvin racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Billings Blue Jays. He singled in the third and fifth innings.
Koessel got the win for the Glasgow Reds despite allowing five runs over six innings. Koessel struck out nine, walked three and gave up seven hits.
The Glasgow Reds' Krumweide, Guttenberg, LeGare and Thibault combined for nine hits and six RBIs.
Ethan Davis was charged with the loss. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
The bottom of the first saw the Glasgow Reds take an early lead, 2-0. Krumweide kicked things off for the Glasgow Reds with a single. An error then moved Krumweide from first to second. Page singled, plating Krumweide and LeGare.
The Glasgow Reds went up for good in the fourth, scoring three runs on a two-run double by LeGare and an RBI single by Guttenberg.
The Glasgow Reds increased their lead with five runs in the fifth. Krumweide kicked things off with a single, plating Koessel.
One run in the top of the sixth helped the Billings Blue Jays close their deficit to 9-5. An error fueled the Billings Blue Jays' comeback. Morgan Dugi struck out to end the Billings Blue Jays threat.
POLSON – The Mission Valley Mariners swept a Class A American Legion baseball doubleheader from the Missoula Mavericks on Monday evening.
The Mariners won the first game 16-6 in five innings via the mercy rule, then took the nightcap 6-4.
Ryan Pablo and Bradley Pichler, the Nos. 1 and 2 batters in the lineup, combined for seven hits, four runs and nine RBIs for the Mariners in the opener. Brennen Andrews added two hits, three RBIs and four runs scored.
Jash Tabor was 3 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs for the Mavs.
Pichler limited the Mavs to just two hits over six innings to pick up the win in the nightcap. He did not allow an earned run while walking three and striking out six.
Jacob Harrod had three hits for the Mariners and Trevor Paro added two hits and two RBIs.
Tabor doubled and drove in a run for the Mavs.

Mavericks musters 5 hits, drops 11-3 contest to the Colstrip Rangers

Jt Gunther paced Mavericks at the plate. Jt went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He tripled in the third inning.
The Colstrip Rangers' Christian, Wyatt, Thayne and Aiden combined for 10 hits and six RBIs.
The game was never in doubt after the first, as the Colstrip Rangers scored five runs on an RBI double by Wyatt, an error, and an RBI single by Thayne.
After pushing across two runs in the top of the third, Mavericks faced just a 6-2 deficit. An RBI triple by Jt and an RBI single by Shelby Shipman gave Mavericks life. The Colstrip Rangers stopped the rally after Aiden got Brendan Jordan to strike out.
The Colstrip Rangers increased their lead with five runs in the fourth. Christian started the inning with a single, scoring Lane. That was followed up by Thayne's single, plating Aiden.
After pushing across one run in the top of the sixth, Mavericks faced just a 11-3 deficit. A groundout by Riley Conley sparked Mavericks' rally. But, Aiden got Jt to ground out to end the inning.
