The Dillon Cubs swept the Butte Miners for the second straight day in American Legion baseball action.

On Sunday, the Cubs beat the Miners 7-5 and 16-3 at Copper Mountain Park in Butte.

The Miners fell to 6-5 in Southern A play and 17-17 overall. Butte is back in action Tuesday when they play host to the Helena Raps in a 3:30 p.m. conference doubleheader at Copper Mountain.

Miners coach Jeff LeProwse said his team will weather the rough times as they prepare for the stretch run.

“We definitely are playing below our potential right now, but I think we’ll get there,” he said.

Eathyn Peterson of Dillon slides back into first base successfully as Butte first baseman Kilian O’Leary takes a throw from pitcher Dalton Daum.

Dylan McDonald hit a double and a single, and Trey Hoagland poked two singles to lead the Miners.

Marcus Madrazo, Zach Hart and Nate LeProwse also hit singles for Butte. Dalton Daum struck out five batters in five innings. He took the loss.
