LIBBY – Garret McNeil drew a walk, stole second and advanced to third on an error before James Dunn sent him home for the eventual game-winning run as Kootenai Valley knocked off Libby 7-6 in 10 innings during Class A American Legion baseball action Friday.
The Loggers had an answer every time the Rangers scored as the teams’ nine-inning score lines mirrored each other. However, Libby couldn’t respond as Kootenai’s Dalton Smith retired three of four batters in the extra frame to earn the win.
Smith finished with four strikeouts in four innings of work while starter Austin Perez had seven through six.
CJ Henrie, Nick Rackley and Perez each recorded an RBI for the Rangers.
Will Reichel led the Loggers with four RBIs and a triple on 3 for 5 hitting while striking out seven in 4 1/3 frames.
Ryan Huffman registered an RBI-double and racked up nine K’s in 3 2/3 innings of work for Libby.
