Lacee Giddens's big day not enough, as the Eagles lose 10-1 to the Billings Central Rams

Lacee Giddens went 2-3 at the plate, but the Eagles fell 10-1 to the Billings Central Rams at Billings on Friday.

Rockwell got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She allowed one run over seven innings. She struck out seven, walked two and surrendered six hits.

The Billings Central Rams' Walter, Daubert and Redman combined for nine hits and two RBIs.

Lacee ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She allowed 10 runs in six innings, walked none and struck out one.

The Billings Central Rams never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on a two-run double by Walter.

After posting two runs in the third, the Billings Central Rams again scored two in the fifth. In the third, the Billings Central Rams scored on a two-run single by Daubert, bringing home Day and Rockwell.

The Billings Central Rams piled on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth. A single by Meyer ignited the offense,, plating Redman. That was followed up by Day's single.

The fifth inning saw the Eagles score their only run on the day on an RBI single by Lacee.

Laurel softball downs Sidney, 14-4

LAUREL -- Paige Hodges pitched a five-hitter and hit a home run in leading Laurel past Sidney 14-4 on Friday in Eastern A softball.

Hodges struck out eight batters. She also drove in three of the Locomotives' runs.

Laurel had 12 hits on the afternoon, with Ayla Grandpre, Maurissa Gunn, Katie Williams and Hailey Spitzer providing two apiece. Williams batted in four runs.

Gunn, Spitzer and Hailey Mauer belted doubles, while Gunn also had a triple.

Laurel rallied from a 4-2 deficit by scoring five runs in the bottom of the third inning. The Locomotives brought the game to a close in the sixth with another five-run outburst

Micala Morehouse's big day not enough, as the Eagles lose 14-4 to Laurel Locomotives

Micala Morehouse went 2-3 at the plate, but the Eagles fell 14-4 to Laurel Locomotives at Billings on Friday.

Hodges got the win for Laurel Locomotives. She allowed four runs over six innings. Hodges struck out eight, walked three and gave up five hits.

Lacee Giddens took the loss for the Eagles. She allowed 14 runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out three.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. The Eagles' rally started when Lacee singled. A single by Holly Papineau then moved Lacee from first to second. Logan Peterson doubled, plating Lacee.

After a quick strike from the Eagles, Laurel Locomotives responded with two runs in the first. Laurel Locomotives scored on an RBI triple by Gunn and a passed ball.

Laurel Locomotives went up for good in the third, scoring five runs on a three-run home run by Hodges and a two-run single by Williams.
