ANACONDA — In a passionate but cordial meeting, the School District 10 Board of Trustees listened to almost 90 minutes of testimony from current and former coaches, parents and fans in the matter concerning the Montana High School Association requesting Anaconda High School to move down to Class B.
After a small amount of discussion the board concurred with MHSA almost unanimously, voting 6-1 to accept the request to begin during the 2015-16 school year. Mike Huotte, the lone vote against the move, stated his concerns about adding too many sports in the spring now that golf will have to move seasons.
All the other trustees — Nick Mikalatos, Lisa Crum-Petritz, Amy Verlanic, Brian Lorengo, Glenda Crum and board chair Steve Tozzi — agreed that it was probably in their best interest to stay with the request of MHSA.
Now, MHSA will later vote to place Anaconda either in District 5B or 6B. MHSA could also realign the districts, but that will be talked about at a later date.
