Midgets lights out against Dawson County
GLENDIVE, Mont. — The Dickinson High softball team didn’t have any trouble piling on runs early.
The Midgets scored nine runs in the first inning en route to a 17-2 win in five innings over Dawson County (Mont.) on Monday.
Dickinson’s big first inning came from plate discipline and timely hits. The Midgets (3-0) collected six walks with five of those players eventually came around to score. Rachel Jahner closed out the scoring in the first after she ripped a two-run double to center.
The Midgets piled on eight more runs in the next four innings. Senior catcher Mackee Hoffmann powered the Midgets going 3 for 5 with six RBI, which included a leadoff solo home run in the third inning. Jahner ended 3 for 3 with two RBI and scored three runs. Avery Privratsky also went 3 for 3 with a RBI and scored three runs, while Sierra Rohr tallied two hits and scored two runs.
Dickinson senior pitcher Haley Butterfield pitched five innings, allowed two runs on four hits and struck out five. On the flip side, the Red Devils’ starter Sarah Temple didn’t record an out and gave up nine runs (four earned) and walked six. Aspen Gibbs and Haylee Storlie combined for five innings, gave up eight runs (six earned) and walked four.
The Midgets continue their season traveling to Sidney (Mont.) at 3 p.m. today.

DHS Softball offense too much for Dawson County in 17-2 rout
DHS Softball jumped out to an early lead on Dawson County and captured a 17-2 victory on Monday at Glendive MT.
With 11 runs in the first three innings, DHS Softball left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
A two-run error, a single by Haley Butterfield, an error, an error, an RBI single by Avery Privratsky, a two-run double by Rachel Jahner, and a wild pitch during the first inning and a passed ball in the second inning helped DHS Softball put some runs on the board early.
Mackee Hoffmann racked up six RBIs on three hits for DHS Softball.
Haley's five strikeouts helped DHS Softball to the victory. Haley allowed no earned runs on four hits and four walks over five innings.
DHS Softball piled on four more runs in the top of the fifth. Mackee started the inning with a double, plating Rachel Jahner, Avery and Riley Cooper.
