HAMILTON – Brie Clifford struck out nine over five innings and was perfect at the plate to lead Hamilton to a 12-2 win over Stevensville in a Southwestern A softball game Thursday afternoon.

The game ended in the fifth inning via the 10-run margin rule.

Clifford allowed four hits and two unearned runs while picking up the win. She was 3 for 3 with three runs scored and three driven in.

Tayler Reynolds added three hits and four RBIs for the Broncs, while leadoff hitter McKayle Rothie also collected three safeties and scored three times.

Megan Finley doubled and drove home a run for the Yellowjackets.

Stevi pitcher Carly Vercruyssen gave up 13 hits and all 12 runs, She walked eight and struck out five.

At Frenchtown, pitcher Morgan Ray struck out all but oneCorvallisbatter and tossed a no-hitter to open the season.

Ray, a junior and the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year, struck out 14 and walked two in a five-inning shortened game, facing only one over the minimum. She also smacked a two-run home run.

Josie Anderson batted 4 for 4 for Frenchtown (1-0) and Brooke Yarnall was 3 for 4 with two doubles.

Corvallis(0-1) drew two walks off the opposing pitcher – one each from Taia Tully and Sabrina Friday – but Yarnall threw out Tully from her catcher position trying to steal second to erase a base runner.

Morgan Ray throws no-hitter as Broncs defeats Corvallis 18-0

Morgan Ray was untouchable on Thursday, throwing a no-hitter in Broncs' 18-0 victory over Corvallis.

No Corvallis batter was able to locate Morgan's pitches during the game. Morgan threw a no-hitter, striking out 11 batters and walking two while recording her momentous feat. She got Kabrey Powell to strike out for the final out of the game.

Eighteen runs in the opening three innings allowed Broncs to easily put away Corvallis. An RBI double by Josie Anderson, an RBI double by Morgan, an RBI double by Keegan Wickman, an RBI single by Brooke Yarnall, and a steal of home by Brooke in the first inning and a two-run home run by Morgan, an RBI double by Keegan, an RBI double by Brooke, a two-run double by Gabby Martello, and an RBI single by Kayla Blood during the second inning supplied the early offense for Broncs.

Brooke racked up four RBIs on four hits for Broncs.

Taylor Gagnon was the game's losing pitcher. She allowed 18 runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.

‘Heads thump Dillon, move to 1-0 in Southwestern A play

DILLON — The Copperheads bats came alive in a big way, pounding out 21 hits including 10 for extra bases in Thursday’s 16-2 Southwestern A Conference win over the Beavers.

Senior third baseman Sarah Schaefer went 4-for-5 and was a home run short of the cycle with a triple and two doubles and the 1-2-3 hitters in Courtney Moodry, Lacee Moodry and Delanie Chapman each went 3-for-4 to spoil the first ever official Southwestern A meeting between the two schools.

Sophomore hurler Andi Mavrinac earned the win, allowing three hits through four complete for the Copperheads (1-2, 1-0). Junior Kristy Hayden came on in the fifth in relief, allowing no hits with two strikeouts.

The Fergus Golden Eagles Varsity top Hardin behind Jessica Kindzerski's 3 hits, 13-2

An outstanding effort by Jessica Kindzerski carried the Fergus Golden Eagles Varsity to a 13-2 win in six innings over Hardin on Thursday at Lewistown.

Jessica Kindzerski rocked Hardin with two home runs. Jessica Kindzerski went 3-4 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Jessica Kindzerski homered in the third and fifth innings.

The biggest inning for the Fergus Golden Eagles Varsity was the third. Hardin had no answer as the Fergus Golden Eagles Varsity scored seven runs.

The Fergus Golden Eagles Varsity hit three home runs in the win. Home runs for the Fergus Golden Eagles Varsity came when Karlie Southworth homered in the third inning and Jessica Kindzerski homered in the third and fifth innings.

The Fergus Golden Eagles Varsity pounded Hardin pitching, as six hitters combined for 15 hits, 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

The Fergus Golden Eagles Varsity survived Hardin's surge and put up one run of their own in the fourth. The Fergus Golden Eagles Varsity scored on an RBI single by Maddie Comes.

The Fergus Golden Eagles Varsity added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. A solo home run by Jessica Kindzerski ignited the offense,. That was followed up by Shelby Alexander's single, scoring Hannah Weeden.

The Fergus Golden Eagles Varsity answered Hardin's top inning with two runs of their own in the sixth. The Fergus Golden Eagles Varsity scored on an RBI double by Jessica Kindzerski and an RBI single by Nora Weichel
