Copperhead girls thump Stevi

BY BLAKE HEMPSTEAD

Balance was the name of the game Saturday afternoon for the Copperheads. And Stevensville was powerless against it.

Every Copperhead who saw action scored, leading Anaconda to the 48-24 Southwestern A Conference win at Memorial Gymnasium.

The ‘Heads now hold sole possession of third place in the SW-A at 3-3 after Butte Central’s loss to Hamilton. Anaconda improved to 5-6 overall.

Junior shooting guard Tyler Baustadt led the scoring for Anaconda with nine followed by senior point guard Courtney Moodry’s eight and junior post Khali Knadler’s seven. Sophomore Shea Forsberg added six off the bench while classmate Randee Jo Johnson scored her first career varsity points with two.

Stevi was led by the 15-point output of senior forward Kayla Peterson.

Anaconda will be back in action next Friday when they travel to Corvallis for another league battle.
