BELGRADE — Butte Central’s girls’ basketball team overcame an 11-4 first-quarter deficit Thursday night, and the Maroons beat Belgrade 46-36 in a non-conference game at the Special Events Center. Danika Neumann scored 13 points to pace the Maroons (11-5), who broke a 15-all halftime lead by outscoring the Panthers 31-21 in the second half. Alysea Pica added 12 points, while Hannah Stajcar and Danee Leary each scored eight points in the win. Annie Ossello and Mariah Cooney each scored two points, and Sierra Pica scored one. Chandra McCurdy, Shelby Paffhausen, Tayler Templin, Aleesha LaBreche and Shawnee Hjelt also contributed for the Maroons, who improved to 11-5 on the season. Dylan Fowler scored 15 to lead Belgrade (7-8). The Maroons are back in action Saturday when they play host to Corvallis in a Southwestern A game. Butte High opened the game with a 16-0 run and left little doubt Tuesday night as the No. 3-ranked Bulldogs beat Class A Dillon 57-30 in a non-conference girls’ basketball game at the Butte Civic Center. The victory avenged last year’s loss in Dillon. The Bulldogs led18-5 after the first quarter and 26-11 at halftime. Butte High put the game away with a 13-0 lead to close out the third quarter with a 43-18 advantage. Natalee Faupel scored 11 points to lead the Bulldogs. Sammy McGree scored six of her 10 points in the first quarter, while Hailey Hoagland and Hattie Thatcher each scored nine.
