Hardin girls edge No. 2 Billings Central
HARDIN -- Alyssa Big Man made two free throws with 13 seconds left to help Hardin defeat second-ranked Billings Central 43-42 in Eastern A girls basketball on Thursday night.
The Rams had a chance to win the game, but their shot with just over five seconds missed, and Kanani Birdinground grabbed the defensive rebound and was able to run out the clock.
"It's a big win for the girls," Hardin coach Tana Stewart said. "They came to play. They got into that last-minute situation and handled it well."
Birdinground led Hardin (10-4, 7-2) with 15 points, while Teonna Little Light had 13, including three 3-pointers.
Allie Lucas scored a game-high 19 points for Central, which saw a six-game losing streak end and dropped to 8-5 and 5-2. Erika Kuehn added 13 points.
Big Man was 4 for 4 from the free throw line, helping Hardin to a 10-for-14 performance from the stripe. Central was just 9 for 23 from the foul line.
