Hamilton 65, Missoula Hellgate 63

At Hamilton, Taylor Goligoski’s 24 points and 11 rebounds powered the host Broncs to a nonleague win over Western AA Hellgate.

The visiting Knights led by five early on and shot 50 percent, but were undone by free throws and turnovers. The Broncs used 3-pointers from Mckayl Rothie, Kali Hayes and Jaylee Albert to open up a 48-42 lead in the third quarter and outscored Hellgate 14-4 at the line.

Rachel Martens (16 points, 10 rebounds) and Makaya Resner (11 points, 14 boards) each had double-doubles for Hellgate. Kara Hogan had 13 points and six rebounds for the Knights, who committed 25 turnovers.

For Hamilton, Sami Kratofil had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Bri Huggans added 11 points.

At Whitefish, the District 7-B Lions held the Northwestern A Bulldogs to a total of one point in the second and third quarters en route to the nonconference win.

Mikayla Grove led Eureka with 12 points.

Simone Craft led Whitefish with 8 points.

At Corvallis, Julia Peterson put up 20 points to help the Copperheads push past the Blue Devils in the Southwestern A matchup.

Lakyn Connors and Carlie Jessop scored 15 points apiece to lead Corvallis, which trailed 28-26 at halftime.

Anaconda shot 10 for 20 from behind the arc and outscored the Blue Devils 33-17 in the second half.

Peterson hit on four 3-pointers and went 4 for 4 from the charity stripe. Kiernan Gallagher added 13 for Anaconda.

Stajcar, Maroons top Beavers

DILLON — This game will be talked about at family reunions for years to come.

Butte Central senior Hannah Stajcar scored seven of her team-leading 10 points in the fourth quarter Friday night to lead Butte Central to a 39-27 Southwestern A girls’ basketball win over Dillon at the B.W. Lodge Gym.

The Beavers are coached by Stajcar’s cousin, Gabe Walker.

In all, the Maroons scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter and outscored the Beavers 12-2 in the final frame for the win. BC led 27-25 after three quarters.

Mariah Cooney added seven points in the win for BC. Danika Neumann and Danee Leary each scored six, while Annie Ossello scored all of her five points in the fourth quarter and Alysea Pica score four points. Chandra McCurdy, Teresa Piazzola and Shawnee Hjelt also played in the win.

Dillon’s Courtney Linder hit three 3-pointers and scored a game-high 11 points. Cierra Lamey added  seven points in the loss.

Butte Central improved to 6-1 and 4-0 in conference play. The Beavers fell to 4-1 and 1-1. The Maroons are back in action Saturday when they take on Livingston in a 4 p.m. non-conference game at the Maroon Activities Center.
