FRENCHTOWN – The soccer teams from Frenchtown made a little history Monday night.

Both the boys and girls scored wins over the teams from perennial power Hamilton on senior night. They were the first wins for Frenchtown over Hamilton in the six-year history of the program.

The Frenchtown-St. Regis girls won 3-2 behind a couple of freshmen and the boys won 1-0.

Freshmen Alli Moe scored the first three goals of her career in the girls’ win, all assisted by classmate Abbey Teagle. Moe sandwiched a pair of first-half goals around one by Hamilton’s Sami Kratofil.

After Bri Huggans knotted the game at 2-2 in the 49th minute, Moe tallied the game-winner in the 70th.

Frenchtown keeper Keegan Wickman stopped seven shots, including a penalty kick.

“Our goalie made an incredible save on that,” Frenchtown coach Erika Bidlake said. “They had more shots on goal than we did. Our defense just played them so tight.”

Bidlake credited sweeper Holly Jacobs and defenders Mary Brooks and Olga Chinikaylo for playing strong games.

Frenchtown improved to 3-0-2 in the Southern A with the win.

In the boys’ game, Tristan Baker played a through ball to Michael Rebarchik, who was tackled, but recovered and got the ball past Hamilton keeper Niall Gallagher-Clancy just before intermission for what proved to be the game-winner.

Frenchtown keeper Arran Lake stopped eight shots to earn the shutout.

Frenchtown improved to 4-1 in league, 5-2 overall.

Both Frenchtown teams are scheduled to play at Corvallis on Thursday, smoke permitting.
