SOCCER ROUNDUP: Libby's dynamic duo lifts Loggers over Vals

By the Missoulian | Posted: Saturday, October 3, 2009 11:45 pm |

LIBBY - The combination of Jaime Gilden and Anna Valentine proved lethal once again.

Gilden had two goals and an assist and Valentine assisted on both of Gilden's goals Saturday as the Libby girls' soccer team remained undefeated with a 3-1 Northern A victory over Bigfork.

Valentine's cross on a corner kick in the second minute found Gilden, who beat Vals goalkeeper Danielle Morris for the first goal of the match. The duo combined again to give the Loggers a 2-0 lead five minutes before halftime.

After Caitlin Charlebois cut Libby's advantage to 2-1 with an unassisted goal in the early stages of the second half, Gilden fed Chelsea Ahart, who iced it with the Loggers' third goal of the match.

Audra Poppen and Jenny Johnson each made one save for Libby, which boosted its mark to 6-0-0 in league play and 9-0-0 overall.

Morris made seven saves in goal for the Vals.
