BURLEY, Idaho – Chris Clary drilled a two-out double to the wall in left-center field to score Robert Gauthier and give the Mission Valley Mariners a 9-8 win in 10 innings over the North Medford (Ore.) Mavericks at the Class A Northwest Regional American Legion baseball tournament Friday night.
Medford’s Christian Gillis hit a two-out RBI single to cap a three-run ninth inning and force extra innings.
Clary finished 3 for 5 with a triple and three RBIs for the Mariners, who advance to the second round against Rocky Mountain at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Justin Evertz picked up the win on the hill for the Mariners.
Micah Brown went 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI to lead North Medford, which faces a loser-out game against Glasgow at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
