STEVENSVILLE – Butte Central picked up a 4-1 Southwestern A over Stevensville on Tuesday as Class A schools began the final week of the regular season.
The Maroons broke open a scoreless game with a three-run fourth inning off losing hurler Carly Vercruyssen, who was tagged for eight hits on the afternoon.
Mikayla Boggs was dominant in the circle for Butte Central. She tossed a complete game, allowing a hit and four walks. Boggs struck out nine.
Shannon McLaughlin toted the big stick for the Maroons, going 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Shelby Paffhausen singled and drove in a pair for Butte Central and Danika Neumann was 2 for 4 with a double.
Megan Finley singled for the Yellowjackets, who slipped to 1-6 in league and 5-12 overall.

At Frenchtown, Abby Indreland improved t 12-0 in the circle as Northwestern A Frenchtown downed Southwestern A Hamilton.
Indreland and reliever Morgan Ray, who pitched the final two frames, combined to limit Hamilton to two hits. Indreland struck out six and walked three.
Kayla Weishaar had three doubles and two RBIs to lead the Frenchtown offense. Keller Leishman was 2 for 4 with a double and two driven in for Frenchtown (20-0) and Emma Oostdyk singled twice and plated three.
Nichole Hood had a single and an RBI for Hamilton.
