The Polson Pirates turned in a stellar day as well, picking up a pair of victories over Lewiston and Belgrade.
The Belgrade contest was a good one, according to Pirate coach Larry Smith.
“(The Panthers) hit the ball well and our girls responded,” he said.
Polson led 5-1 going into the fifth, but the Panthers rallied with three runs to cut the lead to one run.
“But in the sixth, we responded with three more runs,” he said.
The Pirates had a great day at the plate — 14 hits against Lewistown and 19 against Belgrade.
Heidi Rausch had two home runs and four RBIs against Belgrade, while younger sister Sarah Rausch had an RBI single in her first varsity at-bat for the Pirates.
