Copiah-Lincoln Hands Northwest First Loss of the Year

Co-Lin held Northwest to a season-low 52 points while improving to 4-1 on the year. Northwest dropped to 5-1 after jumping out to its best start since the 1994-95 season.
With 11:36 to play in the opening half, Northwest had its largest lead of the night at 19-12 after baskets from five different Lady Rangers.
But Co-Lin seemingly took control towards the end of the half on 43 percent shooting and scored 20 of the final 32 points to take a one-point lead at the break, 32-31.
Northwest couldn't find its rhythm from the starting five, but outscored the Lady Wolves' bench 23-0 in the opening 20 minutes while shooting 31 percent.
Jessica Wilson caught fire and at one point scored seven straight for the Lady Wolves as part of a 17-3 run midway through the second half to open up a 55-38 lead with 8:56 to play.
Northwest played catch up the rest of the way and could never get within 12 down the stretch despite holding Co-Lin without a field goal the final 6:21.
Halle Knowles and Leah Lytle were the lone two Lady Rangers in double figures, each finishing with 10 off the bench. Shaq Isom added eight and Monique Biggins had seven points and seven boards.
Co-Lin closed the night shooting 44 percent while Northwest connected on a season-low 27 percent.
Northwest will look to get back in the win column next Monday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. as they welcome Jackson State CC for a single game. It will mark the first meeting between the teams since Nov. 4, 2003.
